The good, the bad, the ugly... and the just plain bizzarre
Well, the good... I've had a lovely evening, and a quite productive morning, all things considered. Went into town for a pub dinner with Matthew, Sarah and the other Castle people, and not only was the food nice and the pimms great (kinda made up for the fact that the sunny spell was so short lived) but there was one of those nice moments, when M smiled at me and I gazed into his eyes and felt all soppy. I've been too busy for feeling soppy for too long. And I get too wrapped up in my own problems, and belittle his by comparison. It's nice when you remember what being in love feels like without all the day to day grind getting in the way. And then we went dancing, and the last dance was wonderful, just complicated enough to make it feel like I was hanging in there but having to think, the perfect level for dancing and maths (less being boring, more being just plain depressing). And now M has just come home, so this LJ entry will be shorter than planned :-)

The bad... well, I've had more productive afternoons. Any day where you spod so hard your entire computer dies obviously isn't a good one :-(. M is being wonderful and fiddling with screws and stuff trying to get it going again, having decided it's probably the powersupply, and Ming is being very accomodating, but it's one thing I didn't need at the moment. And I feel mean about making it M's problem, just because he Knows About Computers, and I don't. However, I should take it as a sign from God to work more and spod less...

The ugly... cycling home tonight dwelling on the eternal problem of what to do with my life, I came a bit closer to putting my finger on what's so sad about modern society. As we get more and more people, we need fewer and fewer. The world is small enough that once a good thing has been invented once, there's no need for anyone to have the same idea, and computers/machines are getting good enough that once you know exactly how something should be done, they can usually do it consistently better than people. I'm probably one of the top thousand people for algebraic manipulation (and just general calculation) in the country and I enjoy it (after a fashion) but it's not a useful skill to have because any calculator / computer can do it better. And cheaper. And people don't want to pay more money to have things done less well just because it makes people happier as they feel more worthwhile. Well, they're starting to think like that. But only with words like "organic" or "nostalgia". Which is what this paragraph seems to be :-/

And the just plain bizzarre... on our toilet, there is a sticker. The only writing on the sticker is the phase "remove before use" in 5 different languages. Can anyone suggest a reason to put a sticker on a toilet with no information at all except asking you to remove it? It doesn't affect the fuctionality of the toilet at all...

Well, if the sticker's not on it, then you know you may be dealing with a toilet that's been used. Which (say) might have a lower sale value....

The sticker sounds like it was once on some kind of underwear, which often comes with such 'stickers' as a sanitary thing for trying on.

Lol the sticker thing is so random!!

I get times where I ponder the meaning of society and life...it's very depressing isn't it.

If it makes you feel better, I have done nothing at all do far today! Yes - nothing. Must revise....must revise...

Maybe the sticker was next to something else that had to be removed before use, which has now been removed.
