So, after 4 fine and fabulous days of intense drama and fabulous music at bardcamp, how did I choose to spend my afternoon? That's right, boys and girls, I went to see Sweeney Todd. Variety, while the spice of life, isn't always all it's cracked up to be.

It is superb. I love the musical, so was worried I wouldn't like the adaptation, but it was glorious and sad and empathic and beautiful and hideous at all the right moments, and I cried my eyes out for large amounts of the second half of the film. Err, I'm blaming the last on post bardcamp emotions. :-)

It is a very good film, but there is a *lot* of the red stuff.

I'm in the same position. I'm a bit sad that I won't see Johnny Depp in possibly his best role, but I've never gone for the Sweeney Todd story, and although I'm not too squeamish I think I'd find it just too much.

I loved it, so much. The story annd the music and the aesthetic - it's hard to say which I liked more.
