Having the MSPs be the Scottish MPs would imply having the devolved legislature spend some large proportion of its time outside the country it was responsible for, thinking about matters not predominantly Scottish, which would seem to miss some of the point of devolving rule of Scotland to the Scots.

Err, I can see that in the halfway house we're in at the moment Scottish MPs have to "waste" time thinking about and voting on matters not predominently Scottish, but that would be gotten rid of in the world suggested by the Tories where Parliament reduced to an English Exec. to deal with the devolved issues.
The fact that there is only one UK parliament and it's in London shouldn't be enough to make it viable to have MEPs and MPs be the same but not MPs and MSPs, surely?
