Curry Evening - Sally's Journal
As I'm sure my more astute readers are aware, the_alchemist
and I bravely ventured off to India for two weeks, to investigate the work of the Cathedral Relief Service
, (and to indulge in being tourists and catching interesting Indian diseases). On Monday 12th December, at 7.30pm, we are feeding people curry at Little Saint Mary's
to raise money for the CRS, and giving a (hopefully amusing and entertaining) talk. (There is some worry that the_alchemist
will still be Horribly Ill, in which case the talk will be less amusing and entertaining, but I will be in far more need of moral support). The evening will be "suggested donation" of about a fiver, but you do get to see us in pretty Indian clothes freezing in the Parish Room.
There's a sign up sheet at the back of the church, but I'm sure lots of interested Cambridge people don't find themselves in the back of LSM very often, so I thought I'd plug it on LJ. If there is a huge amount of interest and we fill the parish room, I could easilly be persuaded to organise another curry evening for LJ people.
Are you planning on coming to the LSM Curry Evening to raise money for CRS?
It's clearly the_alchemist
I was hoping to take the day off work to make a long weekend ending with this - but it turns out that the 12th is a training away day, so no can do. If we get out very early maybe I'll hie myself to Cambridge anyway, but I suppose it's quite likely that I won't be able to. Alas!

Damn, and there was me hoping I could fix the tag, and delete the embarressing comment telling me my tag had ever been broken more swiftly than a very swift thing. Sheesh, people, you're nearly as addicted to LJ as I am :-)
But now we can pretend the deleted post was something along the lines of "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" or "Who's the leader of the gang that's fun for you and me?"
So no harm done really.
But we also need to work out what the other comment said, and why it was deleted, or we can see.
So someone said something about me that was so rude and horrible that it had to be deleted... *paranoia*

Or I was sufficiently inept at typing your LJ user name that someone had to tell me to fix the tag...
To pick a totally random example.
Shouldn't the poll be done with radio buttons?
|Date:||December 7th, 2005 11:56 am (UTC)|| |
The tickyboxes of my soul rebel against the radiobuttons of life!
Well let me be the first to say, Yes, No, Maybe.
Radiobuttons are the one true way, and I've hanged men for suggesting otherwise!
|Date:||December 7th, 2005 12:00 pm (UTC)|| |
You may hang my body, but you cannot hang the tickyboxes of my soul!
You have a quantum soul, dear girl.
Well, You could argue "yes, maybe" might best convey the nuance of "probably yes". I don't know what "yes no" is. Maybe...
Hey, I just thought of a fifth sort of orgasm! :)
Yeah but no but yeah but no but maybe.

what was the fourth?
Positive, negative, religious, and accidently happening in email :) Though the original was 'fake'.
|Date:||December 7th, 2005 12:06 pm (UTC)|| |
You say 7pm here, but the December newsletter and the website both say 7.30.
|Date:||December 7th, 2005 12:16 pm (UTC)|| |
Damn. I've edited it. Must learn time of own talk.
Yes! Although may have to creep out early to do Rock Soc pub-related Treasurer things.
|Date:||December 7th, 2005 01:03 pm (UTC)|| |
That sounds interesting - I shall try to make it.
|Date:||December 7th, 2005 01:05 pm (UTC)|| |
As has previously been mentioned, I'll be there! (and am now saved walking to LSM to write my name down on the list and finding it shut/irrevocably in use...)
|Date:||December 7th, 2005 03:00 pm (UTC)|| |
Unfortunately I shall be in Essex.
There's a sign up sheet at the back of the church, but I'm sure lots of interested Cambridge people don't find themselves in the back of LSM very often, so I thought I'd plug it on LJ.
Being an interested Cambridge person who not only finds herself at the back of LSM fairly frequently but who has even signed the sheet already, should I vote in the poll?
|Date:||December 7th, 2005 05:42 pm (UTC)|| |
It's alright, I'd checked the sheet this morning, and was already aware that I had to be careful not to count you twice. Vote in my poll, because you'll vote yes and make me feel popular :-)
[Goes to vote]
[resists urge to vote no out of perversity!]
|Date:||December 8th, 2005 04:50 pm (UTC)|| |
Ah - and I still haven't managed to remember to sign the sheet in LSM but will *TRY* to remember to do so tonight...
|Date:||December 7th, 2005 07:41 pm (UTC)|| |
Alas, it contains curry, and it also contains being out during a day when I already have to somehow fail to explode messily all over my parents at lunchtime.
