Hmmm. What a nice evening. Went to pizza for the first time in ages, and talked too loudly about contraception when they got too geeky ;-) I think I'm going deaf though. Back on the ear drops, and I'm worried it'll need syrynging again. Ah well.

Then to the granta pub quiz, when for the first time (in fact, I think the first pub quiz in my life) WE WON!!!! We've often won the money by coming last before, so it would only have been fair to win the booby prize when we came first. But no, we got the cash! 100 granta pounds, here we come!

Stopped on the way home to watch the Trinity fireworks. Now think they were planned to be viewed from garrett hostal bridge, which seems a slightly odd descision on the part of the ball committee, but one I'm grateful for. A really good show, and I could hear the music and see the reflection in the water, and it was glorious.

I went up castle mound this year which I must say I think is the best view of the fireworks I've had. In fact generally if you haven't been up it I'd recommend it as somewhere where you can get a fantastic view of Cambridge (and I'm told you can even see Ely cathedral on a clear day....)

Hmm, saw them from Castle mound last year, the view this year was far far better as they filled the whole sky, rather than appearing rather prettilly over trinity as small dandelion puffs. And you got the reflection in the water, so twice as much firework, and you could just about see the ground level ones too (although there were a few trees in the way). And you could hear the music, which given they were perfectly timed and matched in mood was a big plus.

The view from Castle mound is great though - I tend to be up there at least twice a year for the afmaelestarger and the may molly dance...

I don't know if my ear gunk is too external compared to yours, but my ears stayed happily clean when I would swim every day (without earplugs, with them sometimes underwater).

I suspect that increased ear-gunk-production is a natural effect of pollen irritation.

Olive oil is surprisingly effective (specifically olive oil, not just any random oil). It's not a quick remedy, but is considerably less potentially damaging than syringing.

But I'm going to the Ball! Tonight! And I want to be able to hear and not feel like my head is full of Stuff!

/me is really just too impatient. I have at least gained enough self control not to just randonly dig at it with cotton buds.

All the bands stopped playing at our Ball for the Trinity fireworks. It was fun!!!

I've just managed to grab four hours' sleep, I'm very pleased with myself. Now I shall grab brunch and head out into town.
