Well, a combination of the ever earlier dawn, the mounting C stress and the whirring of my computer (hey, Matthew, know what? It hasn't got the next big number out yet!!!) has lead to me being wide eyed and bushy tailed obscenely early. Which is kinda good, as I need all the time I can get. Now all I need is a little enthusiam to work to go with it...
I can't wait until this is over so I can see past the project and get on with sorting my life... Although I have a nasty feeling that exams will get in the way first...

Still not? If all that faffing with it yesterday fails to produce an answer to 15, I will be most disappointed :)

It's still running; despite the fact I've completely given up on it from the point of view of the write up I am quite intregued to see whether it ever gives us anything and whether it overflows or not. Given it's had over 12 hours now though, and my computer normally goes to sleep at night you may end up disappointed...
Think of it this way, the one before took 3 hours ish, and we know it's going factorially, so this should take 3 * 15 hours.... ie not before the deadline ;-)

Ah well. You can't cut the poor innocent computer off in its prime, though - you must let it achieve its moment of glory, and tell us what answer 15 should be! :=)

But, answer 15 will probably just be an overflow.... still, so far I have resisted the temptation to turn the computer off. And the temptation to fling the computer out the window, and the temptation to burn the catam book... haw can anything this crucial and this close to the deadline still be so mindnumbingly dull I can't concentrate on it???

It can't possibly be an overflow. I'll sulk if it overflows. It's not *allowed* to overflow. *ahem*. Not that I'm sad or anything...
Must go to the UL.

Sigh, it'd better not, otherwise you'll probably spend the rest of your elective coming up with really cool and interesting ways to deal with things longer then a long long unsigned int...
Have fun at the UL? :-/

Not too bad in the end - much as the UL is a scary place with the byzantine classification and shelving system of d00m, it's quiet and peaceful, and feels rather like an advernture if you're a scientist :)
I have scribbed notes on a couple of books, and two volumes sat next to me now, so quite a successful morning. The exhibition on marginalia and vandalising books is great fun - go have a look at it once C*T*M is done. One of the funnier bits was "We were unsure as to whether this book which had been blessed by a pigeon was the result of reader carelessness or an act of God." :)
