What a wonderfully sunny day. Why they put the exams in the term with the worst weather, I don't know.

Here's to a shifted system - the year starts at the start of Lent term, so when the weathers shitty you can be cheered up by seeing your friends again and having shiney new courses. Then the second term is Easter term, so the weather is nice when societies are at their busiest. The holidays last for the whole of the summer, so there's *loads* of time to revise, (and some incentive to work as well) and then exams happen at the end of Michalmas (when noone wants to be outside anyway). Then we can have a huge christmas party cum mayweek...

Yes, I can see all the flaws in that plan too.

Note to self: Pimms and Lemonade made with cloudy lemonade looks disconcertingly like urine. But tastes much better.*

*Than Pimms and cheap lemonade, not than urine. Well, than urine too, obviously. Not that I've *tasted* urine... /me gives up.

No! Revision outdoors, and Mayweek, is essential!

You know, I've never actually thought that Pimms tastes very nice - but I always drink it because it would feel wrong to be in Cambridge in the summertime and not do so!

you mean after the summer break you remember maths? I never did (this could account for the stress...)

That's the one thing I like about working through summer school over here - I never get the chance to forget anything :-)

What, with the intellectual arms race of revision?

"Well it's sunny outside... but otherguy might be revising right now... so I should be... [guiltguiltguilt]... I'll revise"

Terrible idea! The way it as at the moment us poor impoverished students can avoid revising over nice warm, hot and pretty summer and instead spend it in McDonalds scrubbing chippans to help pay off... erm... ok, I'm beginning to see your point!

p.s. What, you don't remember my killerpimms of two summers ago? I got the ratios correct, but the wrong way round. Everyone was too drunk to complain. And I'm damn sure you had (at least) one glass while punting...

this is the point at which i normally rant about how having exams at this time of year is really loading the dice against those of us who become utterly non-functional due to hayfever.

there is, thankfully, some awareness emerging over this issue. but not enough yet. i suppose i really ought to become an activist, oughtn't i? (so many causes, so little time ...)
