It seems rude to ebay them when they were a gift, though. I think their original owner would prefer it if something fun was done with them. And if I did ebay them, I'd feel I had to give the money back to the person who bought them...

Nah, eBay is fun! Gifts should be given unconditionally.

*pictures gnimmel, wildeabandon, neoanjou and myself all eating them - raising money and getting curiosity satisfied simultaniously.*

Probably a good idea.

This is one of those situations where those of us who are veggie can use that as an excuse for not being prepared to eat them. Because if I were the sort of person that ate dead animals in general, I'd certainly eat those. :-)

Oh, and I'm quite suprised by what people wouldn't eat. I wouldn't have thought that the worm was the least tempting - I'd have thought scorpion.

I was wondering if maybe that was just people who didn't like tequila actually.

But a tequila lolly? Doesn't sound like my idea of fun.

Eating gold sounds kind of decadent! As for the rest, I'm just squeamish about eating some things. Possibly things with outer shells, or possibly just things I'd shudder at even if I weren't been called upon to eat them.

things with outer shells

Like snails and oysters?

That was my first thought. Of course, I can't say for sure; I might get squicked out when it came down to eating the scorpion, but it was so shiny I didn't expect to be.

Found you via friend-of-friend from aiwendel. Hello! *waves*

If you're sure you don't want those I might be able to find homes for them. my bf is a big fan of scorpions, a friend of mine has been known to eat candied ants, and the gold one just looks fun. How much are you asking? :)

I'd eat one for free, probably the scorpion one because that sounds so cool. :P Then again, I'm a freak and not easily-squicked.

Not getting the snake venom one? Awwww :(

(And my answers to that are that I'd be keen to eat it once if I trusted the person giving it to me and you couldn't pay me to eat it otherwise).

Out of interest: does a LJ tickybox form a legally binding contract?

Only in certain circumstances. If it came at the bottom of a contractual document and said, "Tick here if you agree to these terms," then it would do, for example. In this case, I think not. atreic is clearly requesting information and not making an offer.

Shiiiny :D

This plays right into my 'hmm... I wonder what [x] endangered species tastes like?' territory :P
Scorps are pretty.

I'd be moderately concerned about the scorpion but, so long as they haven't screwed up too badly with the sting that should be fine - probably far less poisonous than fugu anyway.

I don't think I'd mind eating ants, but ew, mint.

Since when has gold been an insect?

Although the vodka / tequila / champagne aspect is rather off-putting, and the 'eating gold' aspect isn't that much better.

(I like eating insects. I wouldn't eat the ant one because it said they taste like chilli peppers which means they probably have something like the stuff which disagrees with me in them.)

I always thought gold was kinda toxic, like lead but more glamourous.

I guess it probably doesn't matter, because nothing in your digestive system would do anything to it anyway?

It's certainly not the first time I've seen it suggested as a foodstuff. I've even seen a book, Cooking with Gold. I believe it doesn't have any taste, mind you. I can't imagine that it's toxic though.

Actually, on second thoughts, it was an article in the Guardian, not a book. It is in strongtrousers Decadent Cookbook though.
